So you have your bags packed, your have been on that horrible plane ride and now your here, in the heart of Thailand’s capitol, Bangkok. With thousands of tourists flocking to Bangkok every year, its no surprise that the roads are getting slower and car rentals are going up! Obviously most people like to make there own way to places and be in charge of there own destiny, which makes renting a car or bike seem like a great idea, but is it? The following article will details information any tourist would need to be aware of prior to renting a bike or car when in Thailand.
License: A major factor will be can you drive and do you have a license? In Thailand a driver needs to be over the age of 18 and hold a valid drivers license. While many agents will rent cars out after only viewing a license from a different country, the police can and will fine you for driving with out the correct license. A tourist will need to obtain an International Drivers License prior to going overseas.
Car Or Bike: A big choice will be if you need a car or bike. This could depend on who you are with or what you intend to do. The team at Bangkok Deals believes anyone with children or a family should rent a car. If you intend to travel a lot a car would be preferable, while a Bike is excellent if you just need to dart around town or to the shops quickly. Care is needed when driving in Thailand as there are many accidents, it seems the Thais have very little regard for life.
Can You Ride? The team at Bangkok Deals always have a laugh every christmas when you see young (and old) guys renting bikes they have no idea how to ride. Please make sure you can ride a bike if you are going to rent one in Bangkok. There is a great risk you may damage the bike if you have an issue, or if you simply can not drive it they will not give you a refund.
The team at Bangkok Deals hopes you all have a fantastic Holiday! Be safe on the roads and make sure you take care when coming into corners! Bangkok Deals is Out!
