National Museum – The National Museum in Bangkok is one visit any tourist needs to make! The collection in the National Museum is amazing, it is said to possibly be the most important collection of South Eastern Art in the world! The displays at the museum vary from common art you may see people creating today, to art work that was created over 1500 years ago!
The display’s usually have English and Thai translations, allowing everyone to come in and have a look! The information in the Musuem is enough to keep any one person busy all afternoon!
Jim Thompsons House – Well, I bet when you got on that plane and started on your trip to Thailand you did not think that you would go and visit good ol Jim and his dog Rusty! Ok, maybe Rusty isn’t real but Jim is and he is credited with keep alive (or reviving) the ancient Thai silk industry! Jim’s house is easily, one of, if not; the best example of a traditional Thai residence (and he isn’t Thai).
Royal Barges Museum – This museum is home to the many spectacular and amazing barges that get used by the royal family for extremely important or special ceremonies (Sweet 16 Doesn’t Cut It). They are very ornate and you will become very curious after having a look! Well worth a visit!
Thon Buri Canal – You might think you have landed in Venice, but its ok! You are still in Bangkok! If you are interested in taking in a lot of attractions in 1 day, and seeing them from a odd perspective then I would recommend you check out the Canals! A leisure cruise along the canals will allow tourist’s to see many Temple’s such as The Grand Palace and Wat Po, while avoiding the busy Bangkok streets and limit the need to do your own navigation!
A excellent provider is The Chao Phraya Express!
